Welcome to this week’s look around the craft desks and
a general catch up on the past week.
There was a lot of interest in the paper making with gummy
silk last week, here are some more pieces I made. As you can
see I’ve machine stitched into it and added blue Distress ink.
We’ve had a trip over to Pontefract, West Yorkshire, for a
surprise 80th birthday party for the wandering welder’s brother, Jim.
We haven’t seen many of the family members for more than
three years, it was lovely to catch up.
I had to take a snap of the old table they have in their garden,
it’s exactly the same as the one we have in our kitchen.
Hasn’t it made a fabulous plant display area.
Spring is on its way at last.
On Friday I had a long overdue afternoon tea with a friend
at my favourite tearoom and farm shop.
This week like many others I’ve been feeling grateful for where
we live and for having a home we can live in safely and open
space to walk freely.
So as we see the month of February out and the things
So as we see the month of February out and the things
it has brought us I’m thinking of the people in the Ukraine
and hope and pray that they soon will be safe and have homes
of their own again.
Take care
Lynn

It is good to see people being able to get together and celebrate, but yes, we should all remain thankful we have the ability to do so, whilst the people of Ukraine are suffering so. Great photos, and yes, love the table! Take care, stay safe. Helen #2
ReplyDeleteOh may but your gummy silk papers are simply stunning. Those cool and restful colours are just the balm I needed in this week of absolute crap all round. Like you, my thoughts are with the people of Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteWishing peace for WOYWW and every other day!

A lovely post Lynn. We used to live near Pontefract and have lots of friends there. A nice little town where I used to take an elderly friend for coffee, cakes and shopping on a Saturday morning. Happy days. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteI don’t know Pontefract at all but it sounds definitely worth a visit! Your dress took me back, I used to have one with a deep frill like that and I loved it. So glad you had a good time with the family.

Gorgeous results with the gummy silk paper and the Distress Inks, perfect colouring there.
ReplyDeleteYes, we should be grateful for what we have when we see what others do not have. Like you I pray they may soon return but it looks a bleak place for them to return to now.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx
The gummy paper is beautiful and Distress ink adds to it's charm - I bet you are full of ideas on where to take this next! Beautiful pictures for February, what a view that is from your window. I hope March brings us happier news and peace to Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week

Great to see the gummy paper developing to the next stage. Pleased you've been able to meet up with family and friends recently. Lovely collection of photos too. I'm feeling really sorry for the people in Ukraine, this should not be happening now. Wishing you a very happy woyww, hugs Angela x11x
ReplyDeleteOh my a joy to see your gummy paper with stitches ... a thing of beauty they are ... treasures. So good to be able to meet up with your friends and family ... such lovely photos. I agree I wake up grateful that I`m safe and here for another day ... praying for the souls going through such terrifying times ... how I wish the world would have learnt from the past. Sending love and hugs Tracy #21 xxx
ReplyDeleteSo good that you could have a proper celebration with family Lynn. Loving your stitched and inked gummi paper. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteIt has really been a month of ups and downs, hasn't it? The news has been so upsetting that I'm finding it hard to be light-hearted about things. And being light-hearted is exactly what I need right now ... I'm loving the look at your gorgeous paper crafts, the wandering welder’s brother's plant display table, the afternoon tea treats and the glimpses of impending Spring. And that wonderful photo of you two obviously! xxx
ReplyDeleteA lovely picture of you both. That tea looks delicious. I love afternoon tea although gluten free not so tasty. Happy WOYWW Angela #13
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see people you haven't seen in three years. Wonderful photo. And oh, my! The tea goodies look yummy. Happy WOYWW. #25
ReplyDeleteHello Lynn, lovely post. The gummy silk squares are very nice and make an interesting display. Love the photo of you both - your dress is gorgeous. The table makes the perfect place for displaying pots. Yummy afternoon tea too. I've been thinking just how lucky we are to live where we do, where we are free and safe. Have a good weekend. ReplyDeleteOh, don't you pair scrub up nicely? I hope you had a wonderful time at the party.
ReplyDeleteI love that plant table and your creations! xxx
Pontefract?!! How strange is this? My Auntie used to live there ... I visited there from Canada many years ago... small world isn't it!! I'm wracking my brain to try to remember her street ... no luck..... She moved here in the seventies ... their last name was Dixon. The only other person's name from that street was a Michael Cain or Caine...not the actor...but, very cute. I had a great time there...when I was very young and totally crazy.
