First week of 2021 - Fiffing & Faffing

Happy new year desk hoppers from us two.  Philip wanted to put his two pen’orth in.

We are like Harold & Hilda from the 80’s series “Ever Decreasing Circles” with our matching sweaters.
(Thanks for the reminder Vix)

To get motivated I’ve started making notes in a little book and given it the title
‘Purpose and Intention

My first intention is to revamp my work room as it had become quite stagnant
and become a room only that I would walk through to get to the office.

The book shelves have been restacked  and wiped down.
Most of the stuff on my cork wall has been removed.

I did consider taking the tiles off and painting the wall,
then had a change of mind.

I’ve rejigged the tongue & groove wall.
The fabric and paper strips are what I made in 2019.
There’s artwork by favourite artists Cornish based Sue Dove
and the painted pigeon is by Jane Ryan.

The antique child’s nightdress that I’ve added stitched words to is now mounted
on a tapestry frame that I was about to throw out.

In the background you can see my basket full of books that are special to me.

Each one has it own handmade book bag.

A couple more days of fiffing and faffing should see my room a
place to enjoy being in and who knows I may even get creative.

Take care everyone.
We can do this.
Love Lynn.

  2. Grr. I don't know why my comments get eaten. I must be dawdling over the typing for too long and timing out. Love the inspiration - will steal the Intentions journal idea (I LOVE THAT and need the help with staying on track) and your room is lovely. The fabric and paper strips are a real treat to see. Yum

    Happy WOYWW 2021!

  3. I saw that first photo and thought Howard and Hilda! Remember them and their matching outfits?
Your workroom is gorgeous, I'd love a proper nose at what you've got pinned to the cork tiles. The embroidered dress is lovely and your book bags are a work of art. xxx

    1. That’s it ... Howard & Hilda, I’ve been wracking my brains to remember who it was. Haha.
I’m starting to feel connected again now and to form my own routines and not looking at or trying to follow what others are doing. Moving forward my friend. Love to you both xxxx

Love the pink jumpers - boy oh boy did I enjoy the singing from you two. I laughed my socks off. Never change who you are - the two of you. You are a joy.
Love the way you have your room set out, it is a pleasure to view, so artistic and such a calming place to be I would imagine.

  8. I do vaguely remember Harold & Hilda, and think they are due a remake, starring Lynn & Philip. Your jumpers are so much better than theirs, so there!
I'm envious of your work room, how lovely to have a place of your own to do your fiffing and faffing in :-) xxx

  9. I used to love Ever Decreasing Circles, although how Martin?? Richard Briers character wasn't murdered by his long suffering wife I don't know! Love your matching woollies! What a great look round your crafty space. Take care and stay safe. Helen#2

  10. I love all your treasures, Lynne! They are all so unusual and pretty. Great matching jumpers lol! My hubby and I used to wear matching jumpers in the old days but haven't done for years. Perhaps we should revive the habit!

Thanks for your visit. I am with you on the fruit and veg - much better to eat them without bashing them up into a juice, and this is about the first time I've ever done it, but it is jolly delicious! If I do go on making green juice, I certainly shan't be cutting back on the amount of whole fruit and veg that I eat. So glad you liked my outfits!

    Happy WOYWW,

  17. Your work room looks like it would be right at home in a French longere, very shabby chic and country farmhouse!

I love the idea of a "Purpose and Intention" book, rather than a "to do" list, much more zen and wholesome...

    Happy WOYWW!
