We don’t need Santa
We are giddy enough
The shopping is done for Christmas Day
The presents are wrapped
The wandering welder has bolted the door.
I’m about to change into a pair of pj’s I bought for £5 for a pyjama party 10 years ago.
My Linnaie pinafore is to good and to heavy for lounging around in.
Now you might be forgiven for thinking what’s unusual about all that.
Well, in 42 years of Christmas’s together
This is the first one we’ve had at home.
The first time we eaten a Christmas dinner together.
And only the second time in my 65 years I’ll have cooked a Christmas dinner.
This is one lockdown the wandering welder is happy to be in
It’s a bought in Christmas Eve buffet from our favourite farm shop for us this evening and a nice bottle of Pinotage.
The tv programmes are circled in the telly guide.
We’re kicking off with Would I lie to you on BBC1.
Then over to Ch4 for the Great British Bake Off
And if we haven’t nodded off there’s part 2 of
A Wartime Christmas on Ch5.
Whatever your plans are enjoy yourself.
Put the cares of the world to one side for awhile and relax.
Love from us two
Lynn & Philip

Look at that huge pile of presents! I hope the Wandering Welder has thoroughly spoiled you, as you certainly deserve it after having cooked him Christmas dinner for the first time in 42 years :-) I do hope your unusual Christmas was nevertheless an enjoyable one! xxx
ReplyDeleteI only had one present from him that I picked on the craft market at Todmorden last week. I did get a lovely card with beautiful words.
DeleteMore importantly he’s here safe and sound. Like you and Jos, we enjoy each other’s company. So important in these strange times Ann xxx
That's a whopping great pile of pressies and lovely photos of the pair of you.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what's under all the wrappings! xxx
