Last Wednesday of 2020 deskhoppers

There’s something odd happened to my personality since we got the new carpet and had the settees recovered, I’ve turned into a tidy freak.  Not in every room in the house though, I’m working on that one.

I’ve even put all the Christmas presents away. Normally they’re strewn all over the floor for weeks.

I’ve long been a fan of Rachel Grants art and have bought several prints as gifts for friends and family over the years.
This one was a lovely Christmas gift from one of my goddaughters, she knows me so well.

This original canvas hangs in my workroom directly opposite my desk so I can see it all the time.

Here’s another I have on a wall in the kitchen.

I’ve got rather a nice book by textile artist Mandy Patullo to browse through
while the snow stops us getting out. Who knows I may even be inspired to do something.
Don’t hold your breath though.

As we leave 2020 I would like to wish you all a safe and happy new year.
Thanks for sticking with me.  Hope you’ll stick around longer than the snow.
Love Lynn

  2. What a fabulous photo that is of the view across the Valley. That would be a lovely print for your Christmas cards next year.
I can see why you love those prints, they are definitely you - how lovely that you own those canvasses.
Here's to a better year ahead than the one we have just had. Keep blogging and stay safe, happy and well, we might meet up before 2022.
    Hugs, Neet 13 xx

  3. Oh yeah, you can’t shake me off as easily as you’d like. of course you’re a Rachel a grant fan, her art is reflecting your environment! Lovely stuff. I know what you mean about the tidy in the room that’s got new stuff in it, pretty sure it’s something to do with not wanting to break the spell of how good it all looks. And it does. What a fab view you have from your upstairs, wow. I’m not holding my breath for you to make something, too busy drifting about trying to get around to my own makings! Doesn’t matter, keep posting here anyway!

  5. Lovely post Lynn! The Rachel Grant art is gorgeous, I’m definitely going to have to follow that link and the fabric art too! The pics on your walls look fab and your living room is really cosy, you have great style! That wintry scene is beautiful, I do love snow but we rarely get it on the mild coast here in Wales.
    Happy New Year!

  6. That’s a very wintery view from your window. It’s wet, wet, wet here! My husband has just left with the dogs - I put Dolly in the sink as soon as she gets back! I leave him to sort out the bigger dogs :). Great artwork can see why you like the artists work. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year Angela #14

  10. Rachel's artwork is lovely, it's just your style and I can see why you're so attracted to them!
Your lounge looks absolutely wonderful and I understand why you want it all neat and tidy, this year has made us all appreciate our environments a lot more, hasn't it?
Normally I'm not a fan of snow but with nowhere to go (hello, tier 4) I can cope if it hangs round for a bit! xxx

  12. Yes, Mandy Patullo's new book is every bit as good as the first. I would like to give a shout out to a new friend I have made this year and some of whose work is featured in 'Textiles Transformed' - textile artist Ann Stevens. Ann lives very near to me here in SW France and between confinements (that sounds like pregnancies!!) I was lucky enough to go to a little workshop at her lovely home, surrounded by her creativity.

Thank you for glimpses of your lovely home and creativity too Lynn, and for help in raising a smile in this most difficult of years (I loved your little singing videos!). All best wishes for 2021.

  13. Hi Lynn, the print is gorgeous as are your canvasses. I can see why you like Rachel's work. I love the view from your window - I've been looking out at the snow all day, loving being tucked up nice and cosy in my house. Good luck with keeping your lounge tidy - I try, and then Mr M puts things down ... and I pick them up, etc, etc! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #30

  16. Hi Lynn! I am not familiar with Rachel's work, so now I will have to go check her out! Love your original pieces however! So nice that you can have those displayed in your home! Your home looks lovely and congrats on the refresh of your digs. It's always nice to have a look and I can see why you would want to keep things tidy! So pretty! Your last photo is gorgeous! We don't get snow like that here, so I'm quite envious! I'm sure your take on that is somewhat different, LOL, but its still beautiful! Happy New Year to you! Felicia #31

  20. That's a beautiful view over snow covered hills, Lynn. No snow on my hills although we had a light snowfall this morning - it melted away very quickly. I love the print and canvases - they are my kind of thing too. Look forward to hearing what you think of the book - it's been on my wish list for some time. Happy New Year to you and your husband. 22. I never dreamed to see the words "tidy freak" in one of your posts, Lynn :-) Well, I must say your lounge does look tidy indeed, but thankfully not minimalist tidy! Phew, what a relief! Rachel Grant's art is fabulous and I think that textile art book is right up your street! Love the snowy view from your window! Happy New Year, Lynn & Philip, and do stay safe! xxx

  26. Happy New Year, Lynn!

Your original canvases are fabulous! Your work is impressive!

Good luck with tidying up the rest of your rooms! I am on a mission to declutter every room in my house. It is slow going but by the end of 2021, I should have it all done!

    Stay safe and be well!
