It’s curtains for the old git in the smock

Saw this picture on the internet somewhere and it made me chuckle and think of all the curtain outfits I have.

Here’s a small selection

And my latest frock and bag

Now a serious question

Has anyone seen my dapper chap wandering welder as all I can seem to find is this old git in a smock who keeps popping up outside our garage.

Thanks for popping by.
It’s so nice of you.

Not sure about the wandering welder's smock but at least he's sorting the shed out. xxx

    1. He’s tinkering with an old pedal car that Mark down the lane owns. They’re renovating it together. The smock has to go though haha. Xxx

  4. i love all those reconstructed outfits so beautiful and so you. I wish I had the time to find someone.
I must admit I miss Paul’s smelly grubby uniforms as he comes home looking so clean and prestine you wouldn’t think he was an mechanical engineer fixing robots all day. I sometimes get the odd smelly uniform but it is so rare now.

    1. I used to wish I could sew but my friend Val makes them for me so cheaply it’s not worth the bother. She loves the challenge as well.
We had Philips overalls cleaned and repaired on a weekly basis as they were full of welding holes and proper manky. He says the smock is easier to wear which I guess he’s right. I’ll have to find him one a bit smarter I think haha

  5. You wear your curtains so well!!Love all the bags. Have you heard of 'Linen Garden'? She makes and sells the same type of bags from vintage fabric. She has a FB page. x

    1. I know Vicky’s Linen Garden well. I’ve got a couple of her bags and the blue skirt is a piece of material I got from her.
I’ve also done most of her boxes kits ‘This hour of mine’. Everything she sends out is so beautifully wrapped and smells divine. The anticipation of opening her parcels is as much a part of what’s in there. I follow her on Instagram and have her subscribe to her blog.
Have you had anything from her. She’s one of my favourite people internet people. We almost met up last year but events got cancelled xx

  6. That's probably the best thing to do with net curtains though I still have some nice ones in my kitchen so I have no room to talk. I think you wear them well. He's not an Old Git, he looks quite a useful addition. I had to smile at the overall, I have been known to buy my hubby new ones for Christmas, how sad is that! Have a lovely Bank Holiday. Hugs, Angela xXx

  8. All your dresses are lovely. I am more of a duvet cover and sheets lady myself! In fact, I am wearing a Merchant & Mills (their patterns are great) 'Camber' made from one half of a linen duvet cover, dyed green.

Last year I made a 'Miss Havisham' outfit for Halloween from old net curtains dyed dirty beige - and frightened everyone to death!

No one could accuse us of waste could they!

  9. I'm always amazed at people who make outfits out of curtains. It's times like these, I wish I could sew something other than paper to paper or paper to torn fabric. You have a lovely wardrobe, indeed.

Sorry, I had no idea what a "git" was till I saw Annie's comment.

    1. He looks so funny in that smock Ann. He reminded me of a lovely chap we knew who would change his outfits for each job he was doing. I think I’ll have to get him one a little smarter than that old rag haha xxx

  12. That's very funny, worth framing - nothing wrong with curtain fabric for coats/dresses and bags though, best quality fabric.

  15. Curtain couture is a very good expression. Your dresses are beautiful. And with matching bags or coordinated jackets. Absolutely fab (and very stylish).
Yes, most husbands don't look very exciting in smocks, but it means they are doing work for you and that can't be a bad thing. And if they're doing work for themselves, they are very conveniently keeping out of your hair.
    Have a lovely weekend,
    Hugs,
    Lisca
