Lockdown Diary ....... One day at a time

Lockdown but not locked in thankfully

Had to make a hasty retreat back behind the garden gate this morning to let this little lot pass by on their way upto the moors.  When we moved here 30 years ago we had so much trouble with sheep jumping over the wall we had to build it up.  During the pandemic the sheep have reappeared on a regular basis, it can only be because people are leaving gates open and maybe the wildlife are feeling the quiet of the village and roaming further.

There’s fairies at the bottom of our garden and they look like they are fed up of lockdown haha
Can someone remind me that my back doesn’t like me gardening next time I get it in my head to do some.

I feel as worn out as the rusty bike and typewriter that we’ve had for many years.

Had a long chat on the phone with my sister in Oxford.  She is as desperate to see us as we are to see her.  We dismissed the idea of her coming home for the day as she would have to sit in Mum’s garden, would be unable to have any physical contact with any of us and have to go back in the day.  It would be at least a seven hour round trip.  Emotionally it would be far to hard for any of us.

Took mum’s shopping down to her house but it was far to cold to hang about chatting in the garden as I usually would.
Back home and tuned in to today’s government update on the coronavirus.  I don’t know if I should watch it or not as it  leaves me feeling down and I have to rebalance myself again.

It’s a silly tea tonight of ham & cheese sandwiches and strawberry tarts,  then a look at the very best of Chelsea flower show on bbc1.

  1. I love the print on your dress, Lynn! How cheery it is.
It's such a shame your sister is so far away, I saw my brother for the first time in eight weeks today, we maintained a safe distance and sat in our garden and when he needed the loo he drove back home.
The government thingy goes over our heads, we feel like we should watch it but it rarely seems to sink in.
Enjoy your funny tea and the Chelsea Flower Show. We're watching a very highbrow arts series on the i-player. We're going to be so intelligent by the time all this is over! xxx

    1. I know what you mean about the government thing going over your head as we are the same. I’m constantly saying “well what does that mean”.
I have to come home from mum’s garden to go to the loo as well haha. Maybe I’ll invest in one of those “she wee” bottles and go behind the shed haha xxx

  2. Gardening bothers my back too, but I enjoy it so I do it anyway! It's hard not being able to see family... I can't wait until we can visit our daughter. She lives 11 hours away and we've had to cancel two trips so far. But this too shall pass... and soon we hope!

    1. Thanks Polly, I have to admit to having an obsession with the boots. They are by Fly London and I’ve got six pair. They are so comfy I forget I’ve got them on haha.

  4. I would love it if sheep were roaming down our street, but there's only cars, I'm afraid. Love the fairies in your garden, and your rusty typewriter, and the dress you are wearing is gorgeous. I do longer watch the updates. I sometimes look at the news on my phone, with my eyes half-closed in case there's something new to worry me. Jos usually keeps me up to date, which is mostly "good" news these days, with cases going down all the time, and relaxing of the measures. Trying to reduce my news intake as it will only give me wobbles! xxx
