I spent last Friday over in Brighouse with these lovely ladies at the studio of Anne Brooke
Some pictures of Anne’s work
We were there to spend a day of mindful stitching the theme being Boro work.
The Japanese art of repairing clothes by layering and stitching cloth upon cloth.

We each had a kit box to start us off.
Some of the pieces were new and some old which we stitched onto a backing cloth.
Random stitching is used going in any direction to secure the pieces.

When it’s finished I will either frame it, make it into a purse or
attach it to the front of a hessian shopping bag.

Off to strip the wall of flower pictures in the bedroom now ready for the decorator tomorrow.
Wow, that is interesting. I have never heard of Boro work before. Looks as if it was good fun and I am so envious of that hare picture. I want that hare!

That looked a very interesting day - I've seen Boro on pics but never had a go myself. I really love Anne's work and could happily live with the second image!

The first time I came across Boro work was in one of Vix's posts! You ladies are certainly taking it to the next level! xxx
ReplyDeleteI knew about this technique, but I have never tried it, since I can't hold a needle in my fingers (no pinch grip). I like what you have started, though and was delighted to see some great examples, too. Happy WOYWW from #2.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting and fun sounding day. I have never heard of Boro, but it looks great. Happy WOYWW. Have a great week. With love and God Bless, Caro x (#18)

ReplyDeleteLooks like a fab workshop Lynn, I remember doing a team project using a similar technique at college many years ago. The technique of overlaying in this way has never gone away and crosses over into other mediums frequently. Enjoy decorating that bedroom. Happy WoywW Tracey #4
ReplyDeleteYou have so much fun, I love all the projects and these ladies look like amazing women to work with, or play with. Have fun with your decorating project . I'm looking forward to your next post to see what you're doing .
ReplyDeleteBrighouse, isn't that something to do with Terry Wogan and the Floral Dance?
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day, some absolutely beautiful creations there. I love your boro stitching, I really want to do more of that but I keep getting distracted by 100 other projects! xxx
Anne's work is beautiful Lynn. I haven't come across Boro work before but it looks very relaxing and obviously good for the environment by recycling. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
