Lockdown Diary ............Saturday is our day off

Saturday again which means a run out to our favourite farm shop - Park Farm Shop, Tearoom & Garden Centre at Ramsbottom.  It’s a family run business that we’ve been going to for years.  They bake everything themselves, have their own cows and hens for the milk and eggs, as well as cooking lovely meals, fruit & veg, cakes and bread.  The garden centre is open again now but not the tearooms sadly.

I had a mammoth order this week for the folk on our lane, my Mum and some treats for us, like this “Thinking of You” afternoon tea tray.  We also ordered one for some friends who we haven’t seen since lockdown.

Just before we left home, both of us suited and booted for what feels like a proper outing, we did one of our random madcap videos. They seem to be becoming a regular occurrence in the Holland household now.  We get so many happy comments about them that I think we will have to keep it going.  I think you’ll be able to see it if you click the link below.  It trips over to Instagram where my account is lynn.vintagehabit

This afternoon we froze our socks off sat outside socially distanced from our friends while eating our lovely afternoon teas and having a good catch up.

Guilt set in when I heard children outside the gate wondering where the “behind the garden gate” display and treats where.  Cold or not I had to rectify that quickly.  Can’t have the kiddywinks upset in not seeing big Ted sat outside.

No other plans for today other than to deliver the food orders to the neighbours, ring mum and see what’s on the box tonight.  An elderly couple further down from us haven’t been out for 10 weeks now and today they received a call from a government office to say they had to stay in until the 30th June as they are in a group that is very vulnerable.  I feel so sorry for them.  At least we can choose whether we go out or not.  Another neighbours husband has been taken in hospital and she can’t go and see him. He’s not got covid but is very poorly.

So it’s now early evening and Saturday is the day we don’t watch the news.  We say it’s our day off from the bad stuff. Might work my way through a few of the 160 odd episodes Ive got recorded of Escape To The Country.

As my lovely Auntie Gladys used to say “Over & Out”

Catch you soon

  4. I know Peak Farm, almost my old stomping ground Rammy. Love your afternoon tea box - did the rose come with it or is that your special touch?
Can't upload your video, won't work on here - might try later on iPad.
    Stay safe and well
    Neet xx
