Working with the seasons - WOYWW

Well we’ve slipped into Autumn this week and for us it’s been a busy end to the summer.  We’ve had my birthday, our 30th wedding anniversary, Philip and his twin sister Elena’s 70th birthday, a family wedding and a three day music festival.  Hence there’s nothing to show you desk wise and it’s the reason I’ve been AWOL from What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday link up.

So with a clean palette to go into the new season

I’ve been considering what to do next

I’m always fiffing and faffing about,  get easily distracted and have a complete lack of concentration.  Anyone else like that or is it just me ?

So I’ve given myself a good talking to and come up with a plan to work with my creative mind instead of against it.  What that means is I’m going to embrace the seasons and create displays and spaces in the house to reflect them.  That way I’ll get the housework done instead of ignoring it and the place being a tip.
I’ll bring in oranges, browns, reds and yellows with cushions and throws, swap a few rugs round and pull all the blues and summer florals down off my studio walls.
I feel quite motivated now and hopefully once I’ve done this I’ll move onto some crafting.
Fingers crossed.  I’ll let you know next week how it works out.

I’ve not been completely uncreative as I’ve been putting my ramblings down on paper in my notebook. They don’t mean anything to anyone, it’s just me waffling, usually telling myself what I should be doing, what I’ve enjoyed doing and the things I’m grateful for.

  1. What a lovely idea...to surround yourself with the colours of Autumn. I hope you get lots of inspirations from it.

  2. I too have pulled out lovely colors of Autumn and placed them throughout my house. It has made me feel quite happy and I'm hoping to be more creative than I have been for awhile. I do think we all go through just doing nothing for a bit...it restores my creative juices!

  4. You are definitely not alone with the fiddling and faffing. Our a house that is a tip. I tend to blame my kids, but I'm a little worried that even if they moved out it wouldn't change as it's probably me who just attracts 'stuff'. And doesn't like housework. I like your plan - for me that would mean the house was tidy 4 times a year......... Happy WOYWW Cindy #15 (PS love that felty looking leaf)

  7. No time for faffing here at the moment, but then not much time for crafting either! Love the idea of making autumnal displays around the house. The leaf in your first picture is sweet. Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week. Love & God Bless, Caro x (#7)

  8. I can't imagine your place being a tip at all - I'm sure you are being hard on yourself this week. I like your idea of surrounding yourself with the shades of the season - autumnal colours will feel so cosy. I like the stitched leaf in the bowl - very pretty. Have a good week following through on your decisions. Elizabeth x #24

  11. Wow, that was a heck of a party season - how lovely, it sounds like you had a ball! I wouldn't worry about creating or lack of, sometimes we just need to go with the flow.

  12. Sometimes it's better to just go away from your desk for a while and have a complete rest from the crafting and do something different then come back refreshed. Hope you have a lovely creative week and a very happy woyww, Angela x13x

  14. What a clever way to get the house in order!!! I bought a few small plants for my sink garden yesterday and I am inspired to tidy that up now. Funny how it doesn't take much to get us going ..... eventually. lol

  18. Nothing wrong with a bit of faffing! I had grand plans to do stuff outside today but I'd forgotten how horrible the English autumn is and I'm trapped indoors trying to stay warm, messing around and getting nowhere! xxx
