“Paper roses, paper roses, how dear those roses seem to me.
But they’re only imitation, like your imitation love for me”

Here’s what I made at a workshop I went on last week while on holiday at our caravan in Cumbria.
It was a fantastic day spent with likeminded people. I have to hold my hand up and say I’m not good at taking instruction and have to be told several times before it sinks in. Saying that I was pleased with my efforts.
We all had a good giggle when textile artist Corinne Young, our teacher for the day, said my rose was “conical”. I thought she said “comical” and was most put out as I was trying so valiantly to do it properly.
The afternoon tea was delicious, as was the cooked lunch and wine we had partaken of earlier. It’s any wonder we got anything made in the afternoon. What fabulous hosts Angela & Deb’s were at The Create Escape, Milnthorpe.
Morning Lynn. Well done on the flowers. They look good. You always set your makes in applicable positions to photograph them - that's so lovely to see, and great for us to appreciate the pieces dealt with such care! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteNow, let's see - maybe meant to hang on a wall?, obvious holes for screws in the metal plate. But there again, there are holes in the shaped pieces too... so maybe they would clamp together over something? No idea what of course - and I shall miss your answer as I don't have internet whilst away... oh well.
Take care. God bless.

Your flowers are very pretty girl! Great effort on your part! I have no idea what you are showing for us to guess what it is. I can't wait to find out!

Beautiful paper roses Lynn, i'm rubbish at absorbing instruction too. Visual learning all the way for me. Is the trio part of a chain?? Excited to see the upcycle. Thanks for sharing WoywW Hugs Tracey #15

Love the flowers, clever you - I personally don't see anything conical about them, maybe you had to be there! I'm glad you had such a good time at the workshop, the cakes look scrummy!

Hi Lynn, your flowers are lovely and if your rose is conical I don't see it - looks perfectly rose shaped to me! It does, however, sound as though you had a fun time at the workshop and you were well fed too. As for your mystery ironwork - clearly it has to be screwed to something to work - I have an idea that it might have something to do with hanging washing. Perhaps it's the working parts of what we called a clothes pulley, often found in kitchens of old. There again, I could be way off and they are meant for nothing more than hanging men's ties on. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #19
ReplyDeleteI love those flowers... really pretty. The tea looks absolutely scrummy! Not sure about the mysterious objects other than they have screw holes to attach to something else, a wall or something similar. I await the answer next week with interest. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#11)
ReplyDeleteWhat a comical situation with your conical roses ;-) They are lovely though and you are right, they won't wilt. That afternoon tea looks delicious! Oh, and are those a kind of doorknockers perhaps? xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, Lovely flowers. The afternoon tea looks scrummy. Interesting objects but no idea what they are. Have a great crafty week and a happy woyww, Angela x8x
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn.
ReplyDeleteThat jolly bouquet really cheered me up! I'm very curious to know what the mystery objects are. Maybe from one of those old-fashioned bell pull systems used for summoning servants from the below stairs regions of one's stately home?!
Oh I love your paper flowers. I bought book to try making some flowers. Your beauties are motivating me to dust it off and finally give it a try. I love the rose but the afternoon tea looks so yummy. I haven't been to one in way too long. I just love all the little yummies and sampling new teas.
ReplyDeleteHave a good day!

I like your paper flowers! I have a gal in my classes that rarely listens but we love her! Did help when I moved her next to me... LOL! Anyway, I haven't the foggiest idea what those 3 things are. Looking forward to finding out!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Drawing a blank with the last photo Lynn. Great paper flowers! Looks like the food was worth going to the workshop for too! Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely workshop you attended and what great results you came away with. Hope you will continue to make them, they will look lovely both in your home and caravan. Afternoon tea loos scrummy!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week and do tell us about that last photo - now what on earth are they?
Hugs, Neet 2 xx
I think there is a difference between 'rarely listens" and needs telling a couple of times. I don't retain knowledge for long and if the instructions are too long I tend to forget what I was told. Not that I am not paying attention, I just wish I could remember. Maybe an age thing with me and although you are nowhere near my age maybe you are similar in retaining. Or not retaining.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
Talk about perfect workshop! I dont take instruction well either, Im just too impatient and go blundering on!! I hope the rest of your week off was lovely too. Meanwhile, I know what those things are. Thingamiajigs. See.
ReplyDeleteOk, now I have Marie Osmond's song in my head. LOL! Your paper flowers came out delightful and not "comical" at all. I'm very intrigued by those gadgets, which I have no idea what they are. Happy belated WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteAh, lovely flower making there Lynn you certainly had a really great day, and conical certainly doesn’t look like a cone to me, maybe she was trying to be comical 😉 or not! I struggle to absorb instruction too, so feel for you.
ReplyDelete.... however a good instructor or lecturer in my days of study and two different colleges, and I’d get a high distinction, poor teaching I’d struggle to pass, so think sometimes it’s communication skills on instructors part that is key.
Sorry I’m so late Happy very belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #4
