FISH AND CHIP BABIES....

BIT OF A SERIOUS POSTING THIS ONE.
I saw a friend of mine knitting these tiny jumpers. I asked her who they were for, little realising the sad tale that was about to unfold.
They are knitted for new born babies in Africa, born to women who cannot afford to clothe their infants.

You will be asking why are they called FISH & CHIP BABIES ?
It is because they are wrapped in newspaper when they leave the hospital.
Some of the children may even be abandoned.
To find out more or if  you want to knit a jumper yourself here is the link.
We have since been asked to knit them in dark colours as they do not get washed very often.
It brings a lump to your throat, especially when we look at babies in our country with all their designer clothes and the clothes we buy so cheaply and dispose of so easily.

  1. Hi Lynn,
Have eventually found Mr Bear :-)
What a cutie he looks in his jumper and what a great way of showing what the jumpers actually look like on.
    Hugs,
    A x
