Cruise & Crochet

Cruise & Crochet

What a treat

That's what I got upto last night with friends

Sailing out on the good ship Prince Henry from Stretford Marina we travelled for two and half  hours through industrial Manchester to Castlefield Basin, now a conservation area, then back to Stretford

Cake had to be eaten along the way, provided by these lovely ladies,

Jo Johnson and Sarah of French Knots Craft Studio in Sale, Cheshire who put on the event.

The demon crocheters made these pretty rose brooches

This blue thing was my attempt.  I have now given up for ever trying to crochet.
My brain is just not wired for it

It was a fantastic evening laughing and crocheting with some lovely ladies

Now to the serious business of deskhopping over at Julia's place

Thanks for calling by
Lynn x
ps. I'll show you next week the results of my stitching project last week

Two baskets and a wheelbarrow

Saturday
"Are we going out ?" I said to the welder

"I'm not going in the charity shops or buying anything if we are".

"Why's that" said he.

"Because I've already got 33 short sleeve dresses, 16 sleeveless, 16 long sleeve,
4 pinafores, 14 two piece suits, 26 jackets not including the ones on the rail in the office or the ones in the downstairs wardrobe, 13 pairs of trousers and don't get me started on the mammoth amount of knitwear, boots, shoes and bags.  Oh, and I haven't mentioned blouses and skirts.

I did however get these two baskets
and a wheelbarrow from our favourite antique shop just in case.

The urge to go in the charity shops was kerbed by having cake and coffee in our favourite eatery
The Old Coop at Todmorden, Yorkshire

Sunday spent the day blending in with my lampshade.
Well it is a day of rest.

Thanks for dropping by
Lynn x

ps.  If you are wondering when I wear all this clobber, well its every day.
Don't you ? I'll admit it is a bit excessive haha

Put on a happy face

There's been a lot to be blue about this past week.
The rain on Saturday

But that was a good excuse to use my charity shop find brolly

And it didn't stop us having fun at the Ulvertson Vintage weekend with friends

I nabbed this handmade bag for £2.  I know how much work goes into making these as some of my friends who are in the Embroiderers Guild made them

Sunday we found lots of sunshine and flowers and a matching brooch which I am wearing with the vintage jumper and skirt from friend Vix of Kinky Melons Retro Boutique

Got my monies worth out of my brooch and teamed it with a crimplene top and secondhand skirt

Tuesday was a funeral and as I never wear black figured my 50's two piece would do the job and my dobbing big diamond clasp fake snake skin bag

By Wednesday it was warm enough for a patchwork cotton dress with a cardi

Then blow me Thursday I'm back in my thick tights and a jacket

I didn't give in to wearing boots though. I love this outfit as it cost me all of £10  for the jacket, dress and basket

Grey skies are gonna clear up
Put on a happy face
Brush off the clouds and cheer up
Put on a happy face
And spread sunshine all over the place
Just put on a happy face

I'll leave you with that ear worm those of you who are old enough to remember it

Lynn xx
