What's on my work desk today.....

Not my desk......
I went on a craft taster session yesterday afternoon
run by local textile artist Beverley Elliot of Scrumptious Textiles.
If you are on facebook you can find her on there.

I was interested in learning how to make a Dorset button.
I've made a start here using a curtain ring.

I also wanted to have a go at making tyvek beads

Postman Dave brought me this book so I will be having a look
to see what I can do with my old tins.  I am going on a workshop at Hope & Elvis, Worksop, run by Viv Sliwka of Hens Teeth soon who
creates fantastic embroidery/paper collages in old tins.

I'm also running up some patchwork curtains from vintage/retro fabric,
linens and hankies as well.

Will show you more as I go along.

Have a great deskhopping day

Sing as you go .......

I love Marvin Gaye's album "What's Going On" and it sure fits the bill this week but so does Rochdale born Grace Fields song "Sing as you go".
Stockport Vintage Village
I'm sure it was written for my mum as she is always singing.  So am I when I have'nt got laryngitis, which I have this week.  It was weird yesterday when tried to belt it out to a song on the radio. A little squeak came out then a bit of a huff.

"Hallelujah" shouted Philip "thats been the best thing to come out of you having a cough and cold.  A bit of peace and quiet".  I'm sure he doesn't mean it really.

So even though I have got bugs I wrapped up warm in my charity shop find cashmere cardi and stuck my head out the door to have a look at Humpty the scarecrow which young Evie and Jack from next door put together (with Mummy's help) for the local Scarecrow Festival. Isn't he a cracker.

Once back inside I pinned up the start of my patchwork curtains which I'm making from vintage/retro fabrics, hankies and linens.  I think they will look great in our bedroom.

I'm calling them my Rough & Ready Range. In other words don't look to closely.

We missed the Vintage Home Show yesterday at Victoria Baths, Manchester because of my coughing and spluttering so I'm looking forward to July's Stockport Vintage Village and seeing all our friends again.

If you fancy it you can see the link on my blog sidebar

Friday Smiles

There's been lots to smile about this week including
spending a week with my little sis who lives in Witney, Oxford.

A trip to Blenheim Palace to see the Giffords Circus show
 The Painted Wagon.
We went to see our favourite band My Darling Clementine at Fat Lil's Club (love that name) in Witney on the first night.

These crazy sculptures are in the gardens of the library in Summertown
where I picked up this maxi skirt for £5 in my favourite
charity shop - Helen & Douglas House Hospice.
They have a full department devoted to vintage & retro.

Could have stayed forever in the Organic Gardens & Cafe at Cassington

We ended our week with a visit to Walsall to see lovely friends Vix & Jon and their fantastic home.

See you guys in August xx

Sorry about the blurry pics I can't get them to load from my phone to pc

Postman Dave's been ....

I arrived home from a great week in Witney, Oxford
visiting my sister to find that Postman Dave had
brought me this wonderful parcel from a very
talented and generous friend in California.

I'm going to be adding these vintage fabrics
to some patchwork curtains I'm planning to make for our bedroom

I have a box of goodies from Constanza that I received
some years ago and it is such a joy to dip in and out of it.
Sometimes using some of the treasures within or just simply admiring them.

Look at the beautiful embroidered pieces here - a brooch, a needlecase
and a gorgeous wall hanging which is so like the
style of stitching I am currently doing.

So much inspiration and kindness from across the pond.
  Thank you Constanza
