ALTRINCHAM VINTAGE & CRAFT MARKET

I want to live in this market, I've never been  to anything like it, I could spend every day there.
The people are fantastic, the stalls a cacophony of different styles and treats and treasures.
I wish I had taken a picture of Lindsay Howarth the owner of LHP Designs (picture above), she looked so pretty in her vintage lace. Lindsay makes the most delightful embroidered collars, cuffs and headwear.  Have a look on her website WWW.LHPDESIGNS.CO.UK

I met Kate Stoddard of Re-Papered, she loves working with old books and paper and makes beautiful handcrafted boxes, cards, books, stationery, bunting, home accessories all from recycled paper.
I will definitely be buying from Kate next time I go

Liz of Traffford Craft Co-operative offers predrilled vintage plates at reasonable prices for you to mix and match to make your own cake stand with.  You can also buy the kit to join them together.  So no work other than deciding which delightful pieces of crockery you would like then screwing them together.

Look at this KITTY IN A BOX they are such good fun, made by Emma of
OOOH BETTY!  Vintage and Handcrafted Treasures
Like me Emma loves writing her blog, have a look its really funny

Next up is Karen Ellery of Beagle N Thread who have the most fabulous range of appliqued textile gifts and accessories all based on a doggie theme and are supporters of the Beagle Welfare Charity.

After a toasted snack and a cuppa on the inside market hall we visited LOCAL CREATIONS a gallery that brings together artists and craftspeople from the local community.  There was a great atmosphere in here with childrens workshops and a cream tea taking place.  My friend textile artist, jewellery maker & ceramicist Gemma Thorpe shows some of her work there.

I know  I did'nt take a photo but I have to mention Lisa of Vintage Belle Candles, she is such a fun loving person and what a beautiful stall she has. We giggled like mad about how we take so long in wrapping orders to send out and the little extras we put in, we are such fusspots. You must look at her website its lovely

WHAT A FANTASTIC EVENT THE VINTAGE MARKET PROVED TO BE.
ONE I WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING TO AGAIN. WHO KNOWS I MAY EVEN TAKE THE DOODLY BIRDS.
NEXT MARKET WILL BE ON SUNDAY 19TH AUGUST.

After all that playing out over the last few days I now have to go and do some work
Seven coasters, a bag and a pile of office work.

  2. Hi Lynn, it is very close for me and I really should go but I would be so tempted to part with money that I would normally use for my crafty stash! Love everything that you have shown, especially those boxes, they are gorgeous and the cat in the box is delightful. My Step Daughter does the most amazing cake stands (she is a ceramicist too like your friend), so I always try to support her. Thanks for all the info, will have a look at their websites. Crafty hugs, Anne x
