WHAT'S ON MY WORKDESK TODAY ...WOYWW

First of all I have to show you great NON-fattening cakestands I've made with
charity shop/flea market bought plates.
Then there is my stash of new stuff that the Doodly Birds will be landing on very soon.

For all those asking about the wedding invites the first one is finished.  Simple but elegant.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR LOVELY COMMENTS LAST WEEK.

  6. Lovely stuff there! I have been looking for a new cake stand to store my distress stains and glimmer mist bottles in but havent found one yet (my other one is in the bathroom and I cant pinch it as I have nowhere else to put the shampoos!) - love what you have done with the quilted paper - I am preparing mine for a layout for my class at my crop in May. Thanks for commenting on my blog :)

    1. You can buy a kit and you will need drill bits to go through ceramic. Then very very carefully after measuring for the centre point you drill through the plates and add the cakestand sections. Taa-daah done!
The hardest bit for me is chosing the right plates in the first place ie. size, design, colour, price.
      Thanks for looking

  16. LOVE your cakestands - that's so clever!! I read your answer above to Neet - is it hard to do? I would have thought the plate would crack while you were drilling.... I'm inspired...(I can hear my hubby groaning at the thought of another madcap inspiration... :D )

    1. Some plates are harder to drill than others. I think it depends on how porous they are. I actually don't know which work better than others. So my theory is to get them as cheap as possible then it doesnt matter to much. The tiniest one on the stand was the hardest and it broke the drill bit.
Same happens in our house, although saying that he just accepts everything now. Even the piece of driftwood I put on the back of the bathroom door as a towel rail. :-)

    1. Love it Julia. I keep to small numbers of each product to keep them unique and so that I can keep experimenting. I am going to try some larger pictures soon.
I've got my iPad on a book stand now after seeing yours. The husband was well impressed when he walked in. Thanks for the idea. X

  24. I've seen similar cake stands on pinterest.... very cool! The wedding invitations will be a sure hit, I'm sure. They are beautiful.

I agree, some of your doodly birds would look great with my bird canvas..... heee What size are those canvases? 4 x 4? My bird is on a 5 x 7 (I think) and I really like that size. I'm planning to get some more this weekend.

    Happy WOYWW

    1. Hi Kay, the canvassses are only 70cm x 70cm or if you like me only work in inches they are just short of 3"x3". Teeny tiny ones.

    1. Some plates are harder than others but you don't know until you start drilling. Yes you can get them on Amazon. Put some masking tape over where you are going to drill. Just take it slowl.
      Thank you for popping in.
